This could be a long shot, but my Great Great Grandmother was a Corbly. Her name is Daisy Marie. I found something that has her father listed as Patrick, but I cannot find anything else. Daisy lists her state of birth as Illinois, I have found her in census records listing her as an inmate in an orphan/soldier home in Davenport Iowa. If you have any connection to her I would love to hear!!
Hi! I can look and see what I find. Rev John Corbly had three wives over his lifetime and of those the second was massacred in an attack while heading to church. A daughter survived scalping, but most of his children at the time were also lost. He remarried (his third wife which is my line) and had more children. I think most of the children from the third wife are the ones that ended up in Illinois. I know my line was his son William Corbly that was one of the last children. He came to Illinois with my ancestor Edward Corbly and his brother Lindsey Corbly. I can look in the book I have and see if there is a Patrick listed. There is also the Corbly family reunion in PA every year. It’s a great place to get information. – I’ll look later today though and see what I can find and send you and email. I know some of the line had several kids – for example Lindsey had several (he was a lawyer at Paxton Illinois).

The census for each year after for Daisy is showing her father being from different places. Everywhere from New York to Ireland. I’m guessing (just a guess) that her family was lost in the civil war and she ended up in the orphanage – maybe her father was off fighting and her mother died. At a young age she wouldn’t have known that much about her background and information would have just come from anyone that brought her to the orphanage. It has her birthdate as Dec 1884 in the 1900 census making her about 6 years old when she was counted in the orphanage.
